Canadians cherish Manitoba’s provincial parks as
special places that embrace ecological wonders in their
natural state. They provide us with opportunities to
learn about nature, to protect wildlife, and to relax
and gain a sense of renewal through a vast array of
recreational opportunities such as canoeing, hiking, and
swimming.
Parks that are open to forest-destructive industrial
activities such as clearcut logging, mining, and hydro
projects are at serious risk of having these important
roles compromised to the detriment of future
generations.
Presently, 47% of Whiteshell, 62% of Nopiming, and
61% of Duck Mountain provincial parks are available for
industrial resource extraction activities and are being
negatively impacted by them every day.
